First Flush Teas
Each spring, when Darjeeling receives its first light showers, the tea bushes start to flush — sprouting fresh, tender leaves known as the First Flush. It is the first harvest of the year and takes place usually from late February to April when the leaves are young, delicate, and full of vitality.
These teas brew into a light golden cup with a floral aroma, brisk character with a soft, smooth and mellow finish. Often called the 'Champagne of Teas,' First Flush is prized for its subtlety and elegance and are the most prized of all Darjeeling teas.
